Yesterday Morning at 8'o'clock , Daniel, (10) Hayley (8) Matthew (6) and Emma-Lou (4 and an half!) Set up a table with some Organic vegetables they'd grown, in a lay by about half a mile from the farm. They'd made a sign themselves, and bagged up some veg, this is what they put out
4 splendid cabbages, 2 huge lovely looking cauliflowers, 4 3lb bags of New Potatoes, 4 3lb bag of lovely cooking onions, 4 bags of 4 courgettes, 4 bunches of carrots still with the green frond-y tops on, and six 1lb punnets of strawberries, some big bunches of mint, coriander and basil . They left an honesty box at the side asking people to just pay what they thought was fair. Driving them down last tea time (about 6 ish) I was ready with some 'life is full of hard knocks' stories expecting the stuff to have mostly been stolen. Everything had gone, somebody had written 'lovely stuff kids, well done!' on their notice, and there was £21.07 in the honesty box - I only wished I'd had a camera, their little faces lit up and they were so happy!

mercia usename obviously doesn't relate to your location.....MERSEYSIDE. otherwise the veggies would have been gone, the honesty box and the table....;-)
thats a lovely story mercia myself and mrs m holiday in guernsey quite a lot [we have family living over there]...and there are lots of hedge shops where people sell everything from fruit and veg to flowers if you buy anything you put into the ''honesty box''....its quite a lucrative thing over in the channel islands...

Mercia has NOTHING to do with merseyside sqad, Mercia is an ancient Anglo-saxon kingdom around Coventry and Warwickshire
That's great mercia. They do that sort of thing all round our county (Devon) and I understand they hardly ever have a problem. Couldn't believe it when we went to the Isles of Scilly last year. They did the same thing with really expensive framed photos asking the buyer to leave a cheque or cash in the box!
Aww that's soo nice...bet they are back planting more stuff now??
according to the blurb on every sign i see Tamworth is the centre of mercia
Do you live on a farm merciasounds?
