I split with my partner whom i shared a mortgage with 15 months ago, when we split he gave me 7,000 to get on with untill the sale of the house, i took my name off the mortgage so he could keep the house on why he decided what to do, however it's now 15 months down the line and no sign of a sale, am i still entitled to monies from the sale if there's been nothing in writing?

well presumably you have proof of when your name was removed from the mortgage and proof that you shared in paying the mortgage?? Best advice is to get some legal advice pronto, you may be able to get it for free or for very little under the "fixed fee interview scheme"
You really need to consult a solicitor - who may charge you the earth , but it will put your mind at rest.
It all depends on the facts. How much was your house worth? How much was owing under the mortgage? Did you have any express arrangements wtih your ex partner as to who would get what from any sale a) when you originally bought it? and b) when he gave you the 7000? Why did he give you 7000, and why that figure? Was the property actually transferred into his sole name when you "took your name off the mortgage"? etc. For exampe if 7000 was about what you would have got if the house had been sold, and it was in settlement of your claims then that is an end of the matter. If it was a drop in the ocean, and he just gave it to you to be going on with then you can come back for more. As smudge suggests you should see a solicitor who understands this area of law.
