Does anyone have know if there is a spray of any kind I can buy to use on my rubbish bags to prevent animals attacking them when they are left out overnight for collection? (Do not use wheelie bins in my area)

You're joking Philkool. We are retired! Getting up early is one thing we no longer do!! Thanks bunkmoreland will try eucalyptus oil.
I just splash vinegar on and in my rubbish bags.

Seems to do the trick. :)

I used to sprinkle my rubbish with garlic powder just before tying the bag up and putting it out, also any citrus oil will work at deterring cats.
what works for seagulls? we're infested with the darn things! And our council have now given us flimsy food bags to recycle food which naturally end up pecked open and all over the pavement.
I sprinkle some curry powder over them, that seems to do the trick
We put our bags in dustbins with the lids on (just like in the old days!). Fortunately, the bin men seem intelligent enough to recognise a dustbin and they take the bags from there.
