Me again!
Our very nice 'new' house is just about ideal, with one big drawback (for me).
The bathroom is beautifully fitted, and tiled to a high standard. But all the wall area that isn't tiled is covered with a really horrid Artex. What can I do?
Ideas please.

Get a plasterer to skim over it.

Thanks, Claud.. that sounds like a good option!
there are products available that safely remove even asbess based artex, anywhere like B&Q will sell them, this is one example:

That looks an excellent product. Thanks Dot
It isn't easy to remove though - especially if it's really thick. It was on our halls and stairs - tried it. In the end gave up and had it skimmed.
Our kitchen ceiling was covered with Artex and I removed it by softening it with one of those wallpaper steamers.
Our Artex went soft and pliable when it was hot and came off with a wallpaper scraper.
I thin the artex on the ceiling isn't as thick as the one on the walls - well ours wasn't anyway
If you want to reduce costs, do a bit of it yourself....

Knock all the high points off the artex ...using a scraper...check with a straight edge to see the worst of them have gone...
Uni-bond the whole area at least twice...this will stop the remaining artex drawing the moisture out of the plaster too quickly...

And then as Claud says...get a plasterer to skim over your handy-work.

Make sure you wear a mask...!
