Normally, yes. Different material, different repair kits. Just enter 'pond liner repair' in Google and see all the links.

Hi there, we have ahd a liner with a split, but found it difficult to know that the split was the only one etc. What we did was left the old liner in the pond and put a new one over that and we have had no problems since. It also gives extra protection.
