I was a lady the last time I looked puddi. ;o}
Puddicat,,, just got in... after a lifetime of eating veggie food, I don't get wind from eating beans and pulses (that only occurs in the carnivores, occasional pulse eaters and ignoramusus lol).

However, I do agree that bicarb is brill stuff - I use mine to make cheese scones (along with some cream of tartar) ... hehe... I still owe you a batch of proper cheese scones, sorry !

Sprinkle a handful of bicarb in the kitchen bin each time you add new rubbish and it will remove any lingering smells!!!
Customer of mine was let-loose with a cuprinol spray gun, & managed to cover the neighbours conservatory with fence preservative. Neat bicarb on a sponge removed it.

Bicarbonate of Soda has a number of useful properites. It can be used as a deodoriser in the fridge, on smelly carpets and upholstery. It can also help to deodorise drains
Cleaning
Use this powder as a mild abrasive to clean cooker tops, sinks and tiles. Sprinkle directly onto the surface and wipe over with a damp sponge or cloth. For extra cleaning power, mix with Borax Substitute and Cooking Salt in equal quantities and add a small amount of water to make a paste. Apply to the surface then wipe off.
Deodorising
Deodorise carpets by sprinkling Bicarbonate of Soda and leave for at least an hour, (preferably overnight), then vacuum to leave fresh smelling and perfume free. Always test colourfastness before use. To deodorise fridges, simply remove the top of the packet and place at the back of the fridge. When the odour starts to return, replace the packet. Empty the spent packet into plug holes or drains followed by hot water to keep them clean. Bicarbonate of Soda can also be used to reduce smells in bins and litter trays. Or deodorise rubber gloves by putting a teaspoonful in each glove, then hold the cuff and shake well. Leave in for a few minutes and then pour the bicarb in the sink.
Sinks
Pour two or three tablespoons of Bicarbonate of Soda followed by an equal amount of White Vinegar (available in the shop) down plug holes to keep sinks and baths clean and odour free. The fizzing action will help to remove built up debris. Flush with hot water after ten minutes.
Borax Substitute and White Vinegar can be purchased from the Wikaniko shop. See also our article on how to clean your home the way they used to, to find out more uses for bicarbonate of soda.
