I didn't know where else to put this so I hope I'm in the right place for anyone to help me. I've just splashed bleach onto my favourite pale blue tee shirt. My question is ... if I try to dye it a darker colour will the white bleach spots stay lighter than the rest of the material or will it cover evenly. Thank you.

masma it would probably not take the dye evenly you will still have patches,as you have taken the material back to its raw state sorry!!!

I did wonder that Puddicat - nay mind my own fault. Thanks both of you.
Sadly, puddicat is right as i too have done exactly what youdid and splashed some bleach on a dark blue sweatshirt. (My son's favourite , of course.) I did try to dye it but it didn't work. The dye didn't take very well where the bleach was , so I now have a dark blue sweatshirt splashed with lighter blue. You can get products which are supposed to take all of the colour out material so you can dye it properly, but I was so fed up with all the palaver of trying to dye the sweatshirt and failing that I couldn't be bothered trying it. Maybe someone else knows about these products and could advise.

Your own tie-dye creation is the best bet I think, but I can remember accidentally splashing bleach on a long black dress i was going out in. I did a quick cover-up job, by colouring in the lightened spots with a felt tip pen! It lasted for the night, anyway!

Thanks all but I think it's destined for the bin. It wasn't expensive just really comfortable. Hey ho that'll teach me for wearing decent clothes to clean the loo!
