As I am retired and therefore no guarantee of rent I paid a year's rent for a flat to give me security of tenure and to recuperate from a heart problem I suffered last year. I didn't know until living there for a very short while that there is no sound insulation and I cannot make any noise without complaint from upstairs neighbour who works from home. On these grounds do I have any rights to give notice and get my money back so I can find a more suitable property to rent? I still have 9 months of the tenancy to run.
