I think thats to accomadate the new style of steam generator irons, they need that kind disperal for the steam
You can have mine I never use it :)
I had this problem with patterns being left on ironed clothes & someone suggested I bought some ironing board felt which goes under the ironing board cover. I bought this from Wilkinsons. It was alongside the ironing boards in a plastic packet. hope this helps. It worked for me.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem! I bought a new ironing board earlier this year after having my old chipboard one for 20 years and couldn't believe it when I got patterns on shirts! I'm going to look out for that felt when I'm next in town thelewisgang!
Aren't you lot fussy!!! Does anyone coment on the grid patterns on your clothes ?? It could catch on as a new fashion. In fact I'm thiking of submitting the idea to dragons den.
Try using a really really thick flannelette sheet on top of a old twin tub. thats what me mam used to do!
Mine left a pattern too so I bought a thick padded ironing board cover for about a fiver and its now fixed!
It is because of the steam. I just bought another thick cover and put it over existing
