Help. Hubby and I have bought two not inexpensive mattresses over the last year. Everyone says, buy a mattress that offers support, the more springs the better. Spend as much as you can afford etc etc. Well I can honestly say that neither of us has had a decent night's sleep since gawd knows when using these mattresses. We've therefore decided to buy a medium or soft support mattress and a basic bed. Frankly we don't care what it looks like as long as we get a decent night's sleep. Can anyone recommend a mattress that they can honestly say you can sleep like a top on. We also need to buy a bed frame, which we could buy at the same time or separately. Any help grateful received.

I highly reccomend Tempur memory foam matresses. Since we had ours, I've stopped waking up in pain and sleep really well.

Tempur are quite expensive, in excess of 1000, but well worth it. If your budget wont stretch that far, there are many Tempur imitations, which are nearly as good.

Incidentally, we bought quite an inexpensive bedframe, about 225, but the matress is fine on it.
it's difficult to say - everyone has a different back. That may include you and hubby. Personally, I've never slept better than when I had a water bed; but the darn thing kept springing pinhole-size leaks that took hours to mop up, so we had to abandon it. But if they've fixed that, I'd go for it.
Hi, bizzylizzy. I have a Nestledown Support-apaedic (think I've spelt that as it is on the mattress). It is the best bed in the world and like sleeping on a cloud.

I've always had a bad back and although it's pretty soft, I sleep as though I'm dead! Everyone who has ever slept in it (not like it sounds :)) has asked me where I bought it from and said how well they've slept on it.

The divan that it came with is also sprung, which I'm sure helps. I've had it for five years now and I think it was priced at 1000, but reduced in the sale to 400!

Their site is being updated at the moment, but I'm pretty sure I got it from Dreams.

I know what it's like to sleep uncomfortably, as my boyfriend's bed is awful. He spent hundreds on his mattress, but it's awful. Hope you have a comfy night soon. :)

Hi everyone, thanks very much for all your help. The Tempur mattress is going to be too hot for me (and too expensive). We slept on a tempur once and it was v hot. But thanks for the help anyway, much appreciated. I've heard good things about waterbeds, but we are shortly moving into a rented house and I wouldn't want to risk either a leak or the added weight on floorboards. The Nestledown mattress sounds perfect. As you say, the website is being remade, and a web trawl hasn't really come up with anything. But I've written to the company to ask if they can recommend a similar mattress even if they know longer make the one you recommended. I'm really grateful for the advice. Thanks one and all - sweet dreams.
