I have a maple tree planted last year since marc/april this year leaves look droopy as if they are going to fall off very listless looking any help?? also I have a eucalyptis tree growing at an alarming rate can I cut the top out?

I don't really know what to say about the maple other than it has been a strange year weather wise with a very hot dry spell early on in the summer and warm weather with lots of rain since then.The eucalyptis though you really need to keep an eye on as they really do grow very fast to twenty to thirty foot high so if you've planted it in the wrong place you may have to move it or chop it down, if it still has the round leaves of the "baby" tree you can prune it every year and it will keep the round leaves but if it's got the grown up pointy leaves just hack it back and it should'nt harm it if its done at the right time away from frosty weather.

Hi Murphys Law, Usually when people say that their newly planted tree is in trouble, its one of three things. If it's planted too deeply and looks like a telephone pole in the ground, then the tree is stressed. You should be able to see the root flare. http://www.tlcfortrees.info/planting%20depth.htm If your tree was rootbound when you planted it, it won't be able to take up water and nutrients.
