After painting the wall in my son's room, it's been left with a faint 'fishy' odor. Has anybody else experienced this or know what's the cause? The walls are not damp.

Yes, we have experienced this and you will find that your son has nailed a kipper under the bed.
Are you certain it's not an electrical problem that has coincided with the painting? When quite old electrical fittings start to burn out they can produce that smell.
