Will I ever get sun on my balcony?

I have just moved into a flat with a quite high private slatted wooden balcony. I have noticed that throughout the whole day I do not get sun on the balcony other than through the wooden slats. I am living in hope that the sun is higher in the summer (not sure if I made this up!) and I will have a sunny balcony. Am I living in a dream world? (as oppose to a sunny balcony)

yes, the sun is higher during the summer but how much sun you get will depend on the direction your balcony faces.
you'll have to live there a year before you can be sure. It changes direction as well as height through the year. Basically it needs to be south-facing but even if north facing it could get a bit of morning and evening sun in summer, depending on the exact angle.
