Don't be mad! Pebbledashing is the work of Satan and his henchmen. I honestly think it ruins houses. It will actually decrease the value of your property when you come to sell it.
I tend to agreee with Headtime, it went out even before artex and woodchip, and it's very expensive to remove.
I disagree, modern pebbledash can revitalise a house. Our house was built in 1937 & is of a mock tudor style, with dark oak wooden beams & pebble dash on the top half & brick on the bottom half. It still looks very nice & everyone admires the house. It's got to be better than walls which need constant painting, or the disgusting cladding, that covers a multitude of damage underneath!
I was reading recently about an artist who rebuilt his parent's house in a London gallery. He said the hardest thing about it was finding someone who still knew how to pebbledash! It sounds like a dying art. In Essex there is a lot of pargeting - similar in concept, but with reliefs of trees and birds instead of pebbles! :-)
