My thermostat in the hallway isn't firing up my boiler when I turn it up, does anyone know why this should happen, it was working ok before the summer. My hot water system is working ok. I was wondering do room thermostats break down or seize up. Thanks in advance.

Does the boiler heat your hot water is it a Combi ? there could be other causes IE the pump could be stuck and there is no circulation to make the boiler fire up a good tip during the summer is every 10 days or so to run the system this is common problem at this time of year thhermostats do break down though
ther is a pin inside and if this becomes bent the thermostat wont work. i had the same problem bought a new themostat knob from local plumber cost me sixteen quid.
