How do I restore an electric griddle plate to its original condition?

I have purchased a second hand Stoves Newholme which unfortunately I stored in my garage. This has resulted in the griddle plate (electric) becoming a little rusty and discoloured. I know that a few years ago you could purchas a product restoring the rings on electric cookers, but I con't remember the name of the product and can't find it in the supermarkets? Can anyone suggest anything. MANY THANKS . SUE
