do I dig up calendula or leave in as I want to grow them next year?

Calendula are usually only annuals, i.e. they have to be planted year on year uaually from seed, however if you are lucky and you haven't taken them out yet, they may seed themselves around
As Colynne just said, they may well self-seed for next year. However, if you want to be extra sure, take some of the very dried buds off, and you should find alot of seeds. Keep them and plant in greenhouse in early spring. Good luck
I agree with the above posts, Pot Marigolds will seed themselves very readily.
Either sow them in trays Jan-Mar under glass and plant out in April or may, or you can sow them in situe in April.
