I have just been reading my e-mail from Lidl detailing their weekly specials. There is a combined Microwave/Grill featured at 30. which is cheap, and as I have had a few such things from Lidl I would happily buy. However, my current microwave is still working but as they get older, does the efficency deteriorate?. As it is over 20years old, would I be better dumping it rather than giving everything a few extra minutes?

Hi wellard,

If it works well,it might be perfectly ok,but have you ever taken it in for a check to make sure it is safe ? they require checking for leakage, please get it checked, Ray
Hi wellard,

I should have said what for, Radiation leakage, don't start panicking, just get it checked, Ray
Microwaves loose their power rating as time goes on. I had one for over 10 years. When it was taken to be repaired, around the 6 year mark, was found to have gone from a 750 to 650watt.
PS. Tesco do a basic microwave for 25. They`re excellent for the money.
