I have just purchased a property where the previous owner had lost the deeds. The house and land had never been registered having been built in the 1960s.
Upon registration we have been given a title of possesionary freehold. Does anyone know how to have this upgraded to absolute freehold besides waiting 12 years.
Many thanks

Other than finding the original deeds there isn't any way. 12 years must elapse.
Correct. I trust you were able to negotiate a discount for the inconvenience and/or had them purchase an indemnity policy in case someone else emerges in the meantime with an easement or other legal concession that could impact the quality of the land title.
