peone can I prune back

I want to move my peone to move it. can I prune it back now.? many thanks

Peony's are notorious sulkers and just dont like being moved and can take a long time to re-establish but if you must move it, I would recomend you hold out til autumn or early spring for best results.
Prune back the tops and add plenty of organic matter to the planting hole and keep well watered until re-established.
