what can my children give their teachers as an end of year thank you? As a teacher myself, i think it's all gone a bit daft but it is nice to be appreciated and all their classmates seem to take something in. I think a handmade gift is nice - but i'm stuck for ideas! They are only 5 and 2 so it has to be simple - HELP!!
I used to make picture frames from 2 pieces of corrugated card, let your child decorate card with paint, glitter, beads, leaves whatever they fancy then cut out one square/oblong piece and the other cut as a frame (size of a photo plus about an inch all round), glue along three sides leaving the fourth side open to slide a photo in .
I am a teacher and I would be grateful for ANYTHING!! Although once, one of my tutor group gave me some earrings.. except I don't have my ears pierced!! I thanked her profusely whilst covering my ears with my hair!!!
I asked one of the staff what they would like. It went like this " I'd like to get you all something but I don't do flowers and I think you'll be sick of chocs" she smiled " do you go out at the end of term for a drink or something, or can't you stand each other"? Yes, there were going out (this thurs after parents eve) so I'm going to put some money in a card and they can have a drink on me.
A letter has a nice personal touch. Many shops have little furry things saying "worlds best teacher" - they are all ghastly and pointless! At least buy a little something from an Oxfam shop and do some good with the money.
Last year a little girl gave me plant ( think it is a violet although it is pink). It has just started to flower again and it reminds me of the little girl who gave it to me. You could make some salt dough and get them to make a little ornament and paint it. That would be something the teacher could keep.
i reallyy get annoyed at the whole presents for teachers bit, for the last few years i have given the teachers a small monetary contribution to school funds. I believe this is appreciated a lot more, i only wished it was the official way of doing it! My children can then write a short note to go with it which makes it more personal.
