What I wanted to know is, is it necessary for any reason at all for a drill to be inside the house rather than in the guarage?

Well if you leave it in the garage on its own it might suffer from depression due to lack of company and I am sure that somebody somewhere will have a PC reason why this is bad for the drill and very antisocial on your part.
Unless your garage is very damp, in which case that might not be good for the motor windings which could absorb moisture which would reduce the insulation resistance and might cause a reduction in the usefull life of the machine.
If there is damp in the garage it wouldn't be wise to leave electrical equipment in there.

If it is kept in the garage and got stolen it may not be covered under an insurance policy
