Is It Causing Trouble Asking A Neighbour To Move Their Car?

A neighbour (who has multiple cars) has parked their car half way over my drive.  I think it might be visitors of theirs. If I need to get my car out, it'll mean having to drive on the kerb and pavement to get out and steer around their car. Would it seem not very kindly asking them to come out to move their car? Should I just let it go? I hate people who park over my drive like that, as I don't feel respected. Am I being petty?

If you need to go out and you can get out without them moving it do so; if you cannot get out without them moving it, ask them to move it.Let it go.  You do not want to enter into a parking wars type situation with a neighbour.

Am confused as to why you mention they got multiple cars and then say you think it might be a visitor.

Is it a one-off or as it happened before/a lot? Do you need to move your car?

If its happened before I'd invent a journey you got to make and politely ask them to move it

Maybe its them making a point after you tipped over there rolled up carpet??

Tipped over where?

Hi, bobbinwales. Yes, it's happened before. I was driving home and the same car was parked over my drive. At the time, two men were sitting in it and they did move their car (lucky me!) so I could get my car in my drive. That was two weeks ago and now the same car is parked half way over my drive again today, but I didn't see them get out, but I know they're visiting people opposite. They see me as a soft touch!

sigh

^ thats for douglas the grammar policeman

These are totally different neighbours, bobbinwales! I'm surrounded by them! We're all terraced.

Well go round then to there house (hi douglas, more material for you) and ask them to allow you to move yours and leave room for you to get back... just drive round the block and then return if you got no trip planned

If you need to go out and you can get out without them moving it do so; if you cannot get out without them moving it, ask them to move it.

Let it go.  You do not want to enter into a parking wars type situation with a neighbour.

Buy a wheel clamp and clamp it. They'll only do it once.

I think you're right, barmaid. It's just inconsiderate parking grates on me.

^ ignore Toras suggestion... that'll lead to all sorts of problems

I have had to ask my neighbour to move their car a few times over the years, it's never caused a problem

Let's be honest treacle everything grates on you!

More onic. That's what's needed

I think you're right, Redhelen72 xx

In the interests of neighbourly cooperation, if you can't get your car out, and you are going somewhere, it's not a problem to ask politely for the car to be moved.

If you can get your car out, I'd do so, and save the knock-ons for times when you actually need a vehicle moved.

Keeping neighbours sweet is vital, wars of attrition go on for years, Channel 5 have made several series about exactly the situations that crop up.

I am same as you Barry. Loads of times for me. But no disharmony

I would ask them to move it and not do it again.

Thank you, people. Helpful replies so far xx
