The specie types will naturalise if the conditions are right but they usually need really free draining soil that gets baked in the summer as many originate from mountainous areas especially turkey

I have left tulip bulbs in year and after year and they flower though some people would recommend lifting the bulbs at the end of flowering and replant in November.

If you leave the bulbs in the soil are they more prone to viruses?
Some I left eventually came up with deformed leaves.

I have tulips that are left permanently in flower beds and they've been coming up beautifully as normal for at least 20 years.

I just leave mine as I do everything else and they appear year after year. They're nothing special, just yellow tulips.

Ours have been coming up every year since 1977.
