I am thinking of putting the above in my small lawn in the near future. I have reseeded quite a lot this year but it has not germinated - this is due to Maxie urinating.

The garden is about 21feet by 16feet - anybody give me that as a measurement for the grass and perhaps a quote.

Also was reading a little about it ie like screws in and the maintenance like would the urination cause problems.

I did enjoy mowing the little I had but due to pain I can no longer maintain it myself. thanks for any answers.

31 metres squared.

Thanks Spathy - who would be the best to go to and to lay it properly.
I'm not sure it's not something i've ever worked with.
I'd ask whether it's pet friendly and about Maxie urinating on it .They're not all suitable.
Question Author
thanks andres - read that - I do need to make it pet friendly per se but I don't know who to go to.
....it's just over 31 square metres.
31 metres squared is 961 square metres!
Most garden centres sell it these days and would have contacts for laying. Price varies according to the thickness, Iv'e seen as low as a fiver and as high as £20 but an average would be about £10-£12 per square metre.
Even builders' merchants are selling it these days, JJ (including Wickes)......

I would contact any local gardener/landscaper. I guess some would turn their noses up about it, but some are bound to be asked about this quite often.

thanks for answers - I have emailed a firm in Lisburn so hopefully will get some information from them soon.
JJ, I have this grass in my front and back garden but it is expensive. A few good things about it though, it doesn't need mowing and in the hot weather when your neighbours' lawns turn brown, yours remains lovely and green! I can't advise on whether it can withstand Maxie urinating on it as, to be honest with you I don't have a pet but I've noticed other dogs and cats in the area don't 'go' on my grass, they tend to prefer proper grass for that. Now you know the area you want covering, phone for a quote to different companies and ask if it's pet-friendly. x
You could ask a local gardener as The Builder suggests or google for more information . Another option would be word of mouth .
Just as an aside, a lot of dogs flatly refuse to do their toilet on artificial grass - so be prepared for that.
A llocal company around here hovers between £3 and £20 psm, depending on how much is to be laid. The £3 figure is for a football pitch I think.

//Manmade turf installation cost to school playgrounds http://www.artificialgrasscost.co.uk/school-playground/london/north-cheam/ and nursery play areas in North Cheam SM3 9 and surrounding areas, are the same as that of a garden on average at £20 per meter however these rates really do depend on dimensions and the shape of an area. For more information on rates, figures and quotes please fill in our contact form on this page to get much more detailed prices. We are happy to give you all the information you require in order to get the best results possible. //
It is possible Maxine might not use it. Our Pom refused. You might need to keep a small area of real grass for Maxie
JJ, have just dug out my receipt from 2011 and to cover 42 msq cost me £1,342.31. It might be cheaper now, but I did choose a company that specialises in this because there is a lot of work involved if it's done properly, and you can always get them back if you're not satisfied with any aspect of it.x
As I mentioned at 13.16pm other cats and dogs tend not to 'go' on my grass and Mamya and calmck have said a lot of dogs don't like it, so as calmck has suggested, you may have to keep an area for Maxie with real grass. x
Why not pave it over?? It's a good idea if you're not a garden/plant lover.
It may need the occasional hoovering.

Barsel - your quote has made my eyes water. LOL

Have just had an email from the Lisburn guy and he wants to come out and see it - however I do not want a hard sell.

Sharon - have also thought about the pavers - called into a local building site yesterday.

I live in a cul-de-sac (like no footpath) and have had to keep small rocks at the bottom of the garden to stop motorists driving over my bit of garden. So I guess no matter what I decide on it will be expensive.

My friend has astroturf (it looks awful tbh). She has to Hoover and wash it down as she has cats. If you like it, go for it- but I doubt it will make things any easier xx
