Cleaning dried grout from tiles

We've just had our bathroom retiled, and the tiler didn't clean the excess grout properly from the surface of the tiles. There is a thin film over every tile, which I am finding hard to remove. Elbow grease works on some areas, but not on the worst bits. The tiles are very shiny, and I don't want to scratch them. Any suggestions?

a) Get the "tiler" back to sort it out -it's his/her responsibility to finish the job;

b) Try a mix of plain white flour and water, using 00 grade wire wool (gently) followed by a damp sponge, then polish with a lint free cloth.

I used a non stick pan scourer to remove the excess grout from my kitchen tiles.

I used these on my tiles. You need to test on a spare tile first as they can tke the shine off if not used carefully but I had no problem and they did it easily.

QVC offer a 30 day money back guarantee so if you don't want them send them back and all you are out is the p and p.

These things are amazing. Its a kind of microfibre, you use them with plain water and they will clean and polish loads of things. Just one in the supermarket costs 2 to 3 quid, so these are also a deal

Should add that I don't work for QVC or the manufacturer!!!

sorry, the link doesn't take you all the way. when you have clicked on the link put 822056 in the site search box to take you to the page
I would definitely get back to your workman and ask him to finish the job properly. I suppose you've paid him by now? If not, I'd withhold some of the money until the task is completed to your satisfaction.
I'd say gardenknowin has got it just about right. The finest of wire wools will not damage your ceramic tiles.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I tried non-stick pan scourers, as I already had some in the house & they worked fine. You're right, I should really call the guy back, but "if you want a job doing...." and all that - I'd really rather know it's done properly than suffer a grudging, grumpy old man in the house - I've got one of those already!
