I think the price I paid for a recent combi boiler installation is way too high, people I've spoken to say that they have had their whole central heating system replaced for less. Is there somewhere I can go for independant advice or to make a complaint?

Yes probably but it's a bit late now, you agreed to pay their price. The best you can do is perhaps complain to BG and the Office of Fair Trading/Trading Standards. Shop around first in future!

Have to agree with stanleyman, it's too late now and this is a very good example of why you should get at least two quotes before getting any work done.

British Gas (and other large organisations) are never usually the cheapest for the job, you pay for the name half the time. A local CORGI registered heating installer could probably do it for lots less.

Are BG offering any after sales care or offers (free servicing etc) that may make up for the more expensive price?

Generally speaking you get what you pay for b.g. only use good quality boilers like worcester bosch they flush out the system (essential if water is dirty) change rad valves to meet three bar pressure & their after sales service is second to none
you haven't been ripped off, you've just been charged normal british gas prices.
