A while back I put on a question about what to do about the dead patch of my lawn. Just dug the patch up and found this.
(If I can put the picture on I will)
What is it? And is it tuning my grass yellow?

Well done Emeritus. Given the time of year I am pretty confident that it is leatherjacket. Crane Fly(Daddy Long Legs)larvae. It is a bit early for adult Chaffer grubs. Not difficult to treat. Nope. Can't attach the picture. It's a white caterpillar sort of thing. Kind of like a big grub.
Is it a weevil? If I find a smaller one is it the lesser of two weevil?

It looks like a chafer grub but without the long legs at the front. It's dead and I think it's the culprit. Big *** too!

Well done Emeritus.
Given the time of year I am pretty confident that it is leatherjacket. Crane Fly(Daddy Long Legs)larvae. It is a bit early for adult Chaffer grubs. Not difficult to treat. We used a nematode treatment some years ago which worked.

// Remove by covering small areas of lawn with black polythene overnight after heavy rain or irrigation. The grubs will come up onto the grass and can be removed in the morning.

The parasitic nematode Steinernema feltiae can be watered into the ground around affected areas. These parasites infect the grubs with bacteria to kill them.

Compacting the soil using a heavy roller will make it harder for the grubs to move through it.//

Well I used the advice from an earlier answer and dug up the yellow patch, shook the earth a bit and there it was!
I think it was dead and it's forwarding address is our kitchen bin.
Ah, just as I suggested early on, leather jacket aka crane fly larvae or daddy long legs.
I was glad to eventually see a photo of it, I'm not too good at putting pictures on, either.
Some times a familiar object like a silver or copper coin, next to the the object in the photo can give a good idea of the size for comparison.
