6pm news tonight, a S.Wales mother talking about her Daughter that her Mother looks after because she can not feed her, sold het TV / Mobile because she can not afford them, this is due to the so called benefits changes, she broke down due to the stress, yet " And again I don't intend to be offensive" you have Illegals coming & getting whatever they can off the state, is this right?

Illegals cannot claim benefits because they are illegals!!

As far as I am aware 'Illegals' do not get any State Benefits because as Illegals they don't exist.
In think TWR means immigrants.
she should do what we all have to do get a JOB!

Yes Sqad, thank you.
OK if he meant immigrants!
They don't get anymore than our own benefit claimants!

;o))
Islay....I agree ans so would TWR, but the "deal" that they get in UK is much better than that offered by their country of origin.
e.g.
A woman resident in Spain has a baby and gets £20 (equiv) a month for the first child.
If she goes to the UK, has her baby, gets it registered in the UK then can claim child benefit of £20 per WEEK and £8 a week for subsequent children ( I think) and TWR is asking...."Is this fair?"
You seem very sure Islay!
Your ignorance of the benefit system doesn't offend me at all.
Yes douglas as for the 8 out of 10 years I have worked with credits and benefits.
Sqad - TWR is not on about native people but immigrants.
That woman saying she cant afford to keep her child - I don't understand it she would have got child benefit, job seekers if not working, and tax credits possibly housing benefit!
Islay

"Sqad - TWR is not on about native people but immigrants. "

I don't understand that....."native people?" who are they?
TWR is describing people, resident in another country, never paid UK tax and claims UK benefits..............immigrants in my mind.
all benefit CLaimants are treated the same..there are no differing rates as it were..and all are expected to observe the conditions that go with claiming..
An awful lot of people have been put in very difficult situations due to the cuts - if the young woman has checked she is getting all she is entitled to at this point then she may have to rethink some other things.

I see no need to compare her situation to anyone else's.

It's because I've never needed it Eccles.
Sqad he mentions a woman who cannot afford to bring up her daughter but immigrants get everything!
By native I mean home grown 'Brits' that apparently don't get anything
Thank you Murray - I am sure he will take it from you but won't accept it from me!
Saying all benefit claimants are entitled to the same is different from saying all benefit claimants get the same.

Those super duper friendly faces down at the dole can be a bit sparing with the entitlement information. However if one knows where to get said info they will, of course, process your claim.
Most benefits are not claimed from the 'dole office' these days!
Housing benefits are dealt with normally by councils, tax credits by HMRC or in the case of Universal credits by DWP
douglas every claimant will be paid the appropriate benefit dependant on them meetng the criteria..if anyone feels they are being shortchanged in service the CAB is happy to advise

When asked Mam she said her benefits were that late coming in she could not feed herself or her child.
