Yesterday, I noticed that the ice cubes had defrosted in my Beko fridge freezer. Then I saw that one side of the second drawer in the freezer is working, but not the other. The top shelf is not working at the front, but the bottom drawer is fine! Fridge is working OK and the fan at the back of the top shelf is working. Is it kaput?

It sure is. How long have you had it? Check your warranty and your insurance for it and get to the shops asap., especially in this warm weather.
May not be...have you tried turning the thermostat on the freezer down as low as it will go....and there is no excess ice deposit inside, preventing proper operation.
Strange...but (in general) fridges are very reliable, freezers are very reliable....but fridge-freezers can be troublesome.

It's 12 years old, so shouldn't complain! We have an old chest freezer 46 years old and moved 8 times with us!
There is no thermostat on the freezer, only the fridge.

We saved it! On moving the fridge out, we noticed the pipe from the auto defrost has come adrift! We put it back and hey presto!
