Something is eating all of the little flowers on my blackcurrant bush but leaving the leaves alone. I can`t see any garden pests on it and there is no slug trail up the side of the pot. Does anyone know what could be doing it?

Can't say for sure but I've had plants just disappear overnight on me this year with no pest in sight. I did suspect slugs & snails as there were a lot about elsewhere in the garden. And I did find snails around my remaining plant this morning so I slung them. Perhaps they get a meal then move off before light ?

It was only an impulse buy in Aldi and it is coming along nicely but I`m not going to get any fruit on the damn thing at this rate. Something is munching (in completely straight lines) along the leaves of my african violet as well and that`s indoors.
Its my guess that birds are eating them, some birds, like wood pigeons are not fussed if they're ripe or not. I've netted over my bushes this year, and so far so good.
Grey squirrels will also find them tasty too.

Thanks Chipchopper - it`s the blossoms that are going though - they don`t even get as far as making fruit
