I live in the UK and want to get my house re-pointed. Would you say its too late in the year now to get this done, weather wise?

its never too late to get your house re-pointed...what ever that is.
No.  Apart from the obvious problems of doing it in the wet the only thing to look out for is frost.

so you would say frost is more of a problem than the rain...excellent news. thanks. im looking for someone who wont rip me off. just got a quote for 2000 for pointing and guttering. my house only has 2 sides! (terraced cottage!)
Notwithstanding daveboy007's somewhat flippant answer, repointing can be done at any time, as long as there is no danger of frost (which is unlikely for the next month) However, I think the quotation you've been given is EXORBITANT, and would suggest that you investigate other prices from companies who are members of GMC(Guild of Master Craftsmen) or FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) [both have websites]
