I have an Orchid on my kitchen windowsill and after flowering continuously for 2 years it is about to drop its last flower. there doesn't seem to be much in the pot apart from the roots and a few bits of what look like bark. When I water it, the water runs straight through. Is it time to re-pot it, and if so, what sort of compost should I use?
I don't know about the kind of compost but orchids should always be potted and/or re-potted into a CLEAR pot so that daylight/sunlight can get at the roots. Good luck. Orchids look beautiful. I have one that I got as a pressie over a year ago and it still looks great.
The water is supposed to run straight through it. Orchids grow in pockets of leaf litter in trees. They need air moisture and weak fertiliser. I have recently moved all mine into glass orchid pots and they love it.

I use a wetting agent when i water so the water and feed gets taken into the orchid compost and doesn't hang around in the bottom of the container.
