My neighbour cut down their cherry tree and left a stump. The roots travel underneath the ground well into my garden. How do i stop them growing and get rid of the roots that swell my lawn in areas?

It seems to me that you have to cut the roots out. Then repair the lawn . If the roots are sending up suckers you can posion them.
marem is right, you need to dig out the roots
