Have just got my floorboards polished, they were a honey colour before and i stupidly decided to stain them dark brown. I really dont like the colour, its too dark, it makes my home smaller, and its small as it is, i feel devastated to say the least, all my furniture is back in after being away for 3 weeks, what am i to do?
Desperately devastated tartufo!

Put down a light coloured rug???
There must be a way of removing the stain. Not very helpful, but I'm writing because I know exactly how you feel. I thought I'd be really bright and paint my conservatory light brown - didn't work, closed the room right up, ruined it. Fortunately being paint I was able to get it back to brilliant white, but it took 3 coats. There must be a way of taking them close to back to honey.

Get them sanded down and varnished with clear varnish.

Paint them white.

Thanks for the suggestions, have been moving furniture around and have decided less is more, it opens up the space, might consider painting it white, but in the meantime i will have to live with it. I am sure there is a lesson to be learnt here for me, and as always i learn the hard way!
Thanks again.
you can buy wood stain remover from diy shops, never used it though, so I dont know how effective it is
