My cat recently had a problem that has now cleared up where he was weeing without even knowing. I have just got out my large sports bag from under the spare bed as I'm going away on Thursday and it smells strongly of cat wee. What's the best way to wash it? I can't put it in the washing machine as it's too big. And will it dry by Wednesday night??? Help!!! TIA

Forget washing it; it won't get rid of the smell anyway. Just head to your nearest branch of Pets at Home, get some of this stuff and drench all affected parts of the bag with it:

Other than binning it, you could try a launderette as they have larger washing machines than the average domestic ones. You might have to ask if you could put it through their dryers

Thanks Buenchico, but unfortunately I'm in Spain, so I can't get that, but I will look to see if there's an equivalent here.
Definitely bin the bag - yuk!
Fillers earth or cat litter sprinkled inside may help.
Bin it. It will always reek of cat pee you can mask it but once cat pee has soaked into things the smell stays...its evil.

Thanks all, I've decided to treat myself to a new one.
New cat?

Haha, no new bag. George (mogs) has now decided he wants the sports bag for his new sleeping place. I think that was his plan all along
Does George still have his boy bits? An uncastrated tom pee is noxious.

Leave him to his new bed and buy another bag. He probably thinks that if you are going away he is coming with you.

Cats are evil - they don't care what we thing at all
Lol wolf63, you love your monsters evil or not!

How about soaking the bag in the bath and hanging it outside to drip dry.
Baking soda sprinkled liberally may do the trick. But you'd have to leave it for a day or so...then wash.
