I am trying to eradicate clumps of moss from the top of a trimmed hawthorn hedge and wonder if it is safe to spray with a solution of iron sulphate. The hedge is currently dormant. Thanks.

Personally I wouldn't like to use chemicals on a hedge, but I am aware that iron sulphate is used to control moss growth on Christmas tree plantations.
