I absolutely hate hospitals but this was where I was for 5 hours last night. Yeterday morning I got up, got myself and Little Tiggs ready and drove to the childminder. I parked up just in time before I had the most excruciating pain in my abdomen. Sat in the car for a bit and then got out and walked Little Tiggs to the childminder. Ask I knocked on the door I felt like I was going to pass out. Went in and sat down for a bit. Called my mum and she came and got me and we went to the docs who couldn't see me as it was packed in there. Went back in the afternoon and gp referred me to A&E with suspected ovarian cyst.

Anyway, 4 blood tests, a urine test and several hours later I was diagnosed with a twisted ovary and discharged with a pack of cocodamol. I took the cocodamol but the spasms still continued. I'm still feeling quite tender in the abdominal area so I didn't go into work today.

The one thing I am glad of though is that it was not something I had to be admitted for as I hate hospitals. I have absolutely no fear of the dentists and like having my teeth cleaned and polished. Am I in the minority here? I hate going to the docs as well!

oh, poor you! will that fix itself, in time?
Ouch! I hope you feel better soon tigger.

How does a person get a twisted ovary by the way?
I hate going to the Drs too. So sorry you've been so poorly and hope you feel better soon :)
PS, I hate doctors and hospitals but am not the slightest bit bothered by even the worst dental treatment imaginable.

Discharged?........naah!
ouch sounds horrible. i hate hospitals and anyone coming at me with something sharp
Ooh tigger, I had that pain 5 weeks ago. They thought it was a heart attack, then appendicitis before looking into a gynae / ovarian cause. I sympathise xx
I don't mind hospitals actually, as I have always had a thing for doctors ...

Well, the gynecologist said I was fine to go so I presume it should fix itself. Never having been medically trained I just took his word for it.

I have no idea Daffy.

What is the "naah" in reference to Sqad?
I think he means that you will be (should be) followed up, rather than full gynae clinic discharge??
tigger, sounds very painful, if the pain persists return to gp/hospital.

\\\\What is the "naah" in reference to Sqad? \\

Well, if it IS a twisted ovarian cyst it is a gynecological emergency.
If you weren't admitted as such, then i fear for the diagnosis.

That's all.....
Question Author
Oh I see. He did say that if the pain continued I should go back to my gp.
tigger. did they do ultra sound, ?
No surgery??????
Did they do an abdominal ultrasound tigger? If not then I fail to see how they came to their diagnosis, a cyst or 'twisted ovary' would not show up in blood and urine tests. :-/
Question Author
It wasn't a cyst though Sqad. He just said that sometimes twists can occur.
mmmmmm!...right.
I bet....just bet.....depending upon if you you were in mid menstrual cycle that he meant......Mittelschmertz.........Google it.....and that may be your diagnosis.
