Moss Taking Over Our Front Lawn

We have a small front lawn and I would say 3/4 of it is moss covered with the grass being non-existent over 1/3 of that area.

I need to kill off the moss before I sew more grass but wanted to avoid a large bald patch for several months whilst the grass takes hold.

Is there any way of doing this?

If the lawn is mossy, killing off the moss won't help unless you also change the growing conditions. The things which predispose to moss are drainage, shade, thatch left in the lawn (uncollected clippings) and overmowing. Best way is to deal with the underlying issues, then turf for am instant effect. You will need to keep the turf watered while it takes though and it won't be the cheapest method.
