Does anyone know what to use on stained wood. I have tried undercoating then glossing and the dye stills shows through on skirting and door frames. just moved in and redecorating the house.

You could try giving it a few coats of PVA glue diluted in water. Mix it to the consistancy of cream and paint on with a decorators paint brush. It may need around 5-8 coats depending on the surface. Befor painting the whole area with your finished surface product (satinwood etc) try a small area first to see if it needs further coats of the PVA mixture. You will also need to prepare the surface to be painted by sanding down befor applying the PVA mixture. Good luck!
