Hiya

My washing machine has suddenly decided not to do the full cycle of what ever programme I put it on. It will work its way through the cycle, a bit of water in here, a few spins but doesnt do it all properly. Anyone know whats wrong? Do I need to call out the man that does? Or do I need to get a new one?!

HELP!!

Try cleaning the filter - or something may be stuck in the pump (that's a bit more difficult to get at)

Thanks - ..... where is the filter?  Is it behind the panel on the front of the machine at the bottom?

Doesnt really help that it is a french machine (thanks to bloke living there for numerous years) and I dont understand the language so cant read the manual!

It certainly isn't going to hurt to do as netibiza says, however, I think you found the major part of the problem, It's French...(just kidding)... It really sounds as if the timer is malfunctioning.  I've experienced this and the timer is easily removed and replaced... but only if you can find the correct one. If there is more than one type of cycle available on the timer (regular, perm-press, gentle, etc.) see if it works any better in other modes.  Good luck!

Its a joint washer/dryer and the Tumble dryer bit is playing up as well, only doing two or three spins and then chuntering on through the rest of the programmes until it comes to a stop!

Will have a fiddle with the filter tonight and hope for the best!

Any other advice appreciated though!!

It may and I stress may be something to do with the cold water inlet. When a machine washes it might fill with from the hot tap, then it rinses from the cold. If the cold plays up it will wash but not rinse. Although as the earlier poster wrote if its a blockage or pump problem the symptoms are similar. Tip if you do buy another try www.discountappliances.co.uk

Looks like it may be a blockage in the outlet pipe.

When I took the filter out it was full of gunk and there was a lot of water in the bit where the filter comes out from.

My dad is coming over tomorrow night to see what he can do, bit cheaper than getting a bloke in to sort it!

Thanks everyone for your answers!
