I'm searching but so far have not found what I'm looking for: A comfortable chair that unfolds as a single guest-bed, but raised on supports - not flat on the floor which could be difficult to get up from. Does anyone have experience of this sort of thing please? Suggestions welcome.

I asked a similar question a while back. Try searching chair bed or futon and you will find them. Found a few that looked good but expect to pay at least £200+
This isn't going to help with 'finding' what you're looking for, but - in response to your query about 'experience' - I was thinking of these only the other day. When I was a lad in the 1940s, we had one on either side of the fireplace...very simple, wooden 'armchairs'...which folded down to make single beds. Very handy they were, too. If I could find such an item, I'd buy it tomorrow. The ones linked to by hc4361 above are wonderful, I'm sure, but vastly more bulky than the ones we had all these decades ago.
Good luck with your search.
