Just laid a laminate floor and would like to know of any alternatives instead of the beading that goes around the edge to finish it off.

Cheers.

When I did it I took the skirting board off, and put it back after the laminate floor was laid, so that the gap was under the skirting board. The same can be done in a bathroom or kitchen with tiles etc. If you have already laid the floor you will probably find my advice too late!
I would say the beading looks best, and there are a number of different styles and sizes - you don't have to go with the traditional shape and size. Most importantly, make sure it matches in colour to the skirting board and not the floor. It looks so much better, and neater.
