Got my elder sons wee friends coming round for tea on Saturday and taking them to see the new Harry Potter for his birthday. Was hoping to go for a cycle on Sunday before we take all the bike racks off the car but forecast is miserable....again!

is it your lads b/day tomorrow annie?
it's my wee Ben's too, he will be 7
no Bobbie it was 5 July - he was 11 - he wanted to wait til HP was out before doing his birthday thing. Hope Ben has a nice day tomorrow - It's my neices on the 17th, but she'll be 33 and has 3 kids of her own now. Younger son will be 10 on 9 August - he is looking forward to being "double digits"!!
Question Author
Ben seems to think he will come downstairs to "lots" of prezzies like Xmas..LOL
We're going to get a dining table and chairs tomorrow (gosh, I'd forgotten about that). We need other odds and sods like a microwave, coffee table, and suchlike, but yes, getting quite homely now.
Question Author
brilliant, a good success story on here, long may it last for both of you
Awww poor Ben :o( My son's friends parents do that (the big pile of presents thing) on their kids birthdays and they get a lot less at Christmas. We tend to spoil our two at Christmas and they get a few particular requested items on their birthday. The friends reasoning is that Christmas is for everybody but they each have their own special birthday so that's the day they make the big expense on. I can see what they mean, but I continue to do it our way as you can't swap halfway through!
