Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

even better news. It was cancer consultant day today. So far as he can tell (and he is RED hot) nothing has spread or changed. He gets all the blood and test results and he asked why DH is starting anaemia treatment when his anaemia is improving?????? also his kidney function has improved since last blood tests. I am sat here with champagne!!
That is exciting news woofy, good old Mr W!! I'm sat here with ginger ale and a straw, but it means the same xxxx
Thanks Neti, DH is celebrating with tea and an iced bun as he can't do champagne now. Some days are blessed and everybody lives.
Great news Woofy. So pleased for Mr W that things are getting better for him.
Hope you feel better soon Neti. Your next visit to the dentist wont be as bad as the last I'm sure the worst part has been done.

Off to bed now had another gardening day. One more corner of bluebells to dig out then a visit to the garden centre is called for.
Goodnight all Biddies everywhere see yer later 'gater(s)
good grief, now earthquakes are levelling Spain? I trust the outlying islands are okay.
Hi jno, we've had earthquakes here in the past but only light ones.

Just gone 2am here and can't sleep with throbbing mouth.

Am trotting off to bed again to see if I can dream........................................
......
Thank you woofy,

I eventually went to sleep after taking 2x Ibruprofen 600mgs, and am awake now. Throbbing has gone but lips and mouth very sore, but as jude says (hopefully) that is the worst over.

Hope you are all feeling chipper and well.
Hi,

Just phoned my friend in Murcia, she is 50km North of the Earthquake and hasn't felt anything. Her friends however live very near to it, but are in England at the moment. It was her Mum in England who told her about the quakes this morning!

Hope things ease off for you soon Neti.

Excellent news about Mr Woof :o)

Are you back jno?

Off to hairdressers for a colour.

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee xxxxxxxxx

Morning all...just waiting for the washer to finish which, judging by the sky, looks like it'll be a cue for the rain to start...oh poo.

Another yay! for more Mr W, good news is most welcome after the run everyone's had lately.

Now then, what's with these old flames contacting us? Is it the latest trend? I think I told you that an old (short term) boyfriend of mine had sent me a message but I was going to ignore it....I did. He had contacted me a few years ago & I replied, kept it light & hopefully in amusing Robi stylie but after a couple of mail swaps he asked if I was still in contact with someone I'd worked with & who had also been a girlfriend of his (& a whole lot prettier than me). 'Aha', thought I, 'it's her he really wants to contact' so I told him I had no idea where she was, which was the truth, honest! He never mailed again but I wasn't upset cos he seemed to be lacking a soh....or maybe I'm just immature :o)
Well, I've had a message today & he (or someone) put a chunk of an old school photo on his page with us both tagged....NOT...he didn't go to that school & we'd both left school by then anyway. So what's going on? Do you think it's to prompt me to contact him? Opinions please. Why am I being like a teenager in CB?.... hahahaha
Morning all
Hope you'e all OK and that your pain is easing off Neti .
Good news for you Woofy .I'm really pleased for you .

Haha Robinia .Perhaps he's wondering what he missed :))
I'm not going to email my old flame much as my friend says "he'd love to hear from you " ....
Judging from his pics on FR he seems happily married so why on earth does he want to hear from me .Unless of course it's to rake me off about the Dear John letter I sent him in 1969 :))
Cloudy and dull here but we've had rain at all .

I spent last night looking at clothes on the internet and am fed up .
I don't want to walk about in a bloody tunic or looking like a bunch of flowers .Why is everything so flowery and mimsy pimsy this year .
By the time I get round to buying anything it'll be winter so may as well not bother.Bah .

lol shaney..I think if we were meant to re-unite with old friends then fate would see that we did. However I might just drop him a note to mention the photo, someone might have got into his FR profile...or mine!..and be beggaring about. He's also on Facebook, no piccy of him but there's a lovely big fluffy GSD. :o)
because Robi, it can be fun behaving like a teenager when you have the choice not to...its like grandchildren, all the fun of littlies but then you can say "okay, going to stop now and be a grumpy old woman again"
I don't have to worry about the old flames thing as I have none!! DH's only is my sister, not the angel one, the one who isn't speaking, this is starting to sound like eastenders.
Question Author
oh *&^%$£, I knew it would rain so why did I peg out?

haha woofy, what complicated lives we lead. Well I see the photo now appears on my page too so I've pm'd him to say I doubt he'd added it to his page & just in case he'd had a similar message saying it was me who dun it, I assured him I hadn't. Said I hoped he was well...watch this space :o)
It has rained - but it has stopped. It rained quite hard for about 20 minutes when I was in the hairdressers.

I have got myself into trouble regarding two old flames - and one even came to stay with us for 2 days - Not a good idea. After a horrible experience which I will not elaborate on, I will never contact old flames on the internet again. There were quite a few - I gadded about a bit - but they were all history once I met Mr LL.

I have now bought my 3rd outfit for this wedding. I happened to pop into our local very expensive boutique (which I have been two about twice in 10 years) and found something that was just me and which I absolutely love!! I can't explain it because it will sound dreadful, but it's a one off involving crinkly trousers and a weird top (not a suit - but items by different designers). It makes me feel a million dollars - all I need is some flat unusual silver toepost sandals!!!
Lottie if it feels good then it's the outfit for you.....pics please?
They will look very funny pictures!! But I will try. Can't find anything on the internet
Good evening Everybiddy. Hope you are all ok today. I.m going out in the garden to finish off in a bit if the rain keeps away.
I've sent for some shoes for the Wedding to be delivered to Clarkes so that I can try them on before I make up my mind but I really like them http://i54.tinypic.com/2100msw.jpg they're the only pair I've seen lately that I like. I daren't tell you how much they are.
There is only one ex I would love to meet again and that is my very first boyfriend when I was 16. Not that I had that many. He was tall dark and handsome and could really rock and roll. I have a feeling he emigrated but I do know his brother is still in Derby but I daren't ask.
Question Author
evenin all...well he mailed back & says he hasn't put the pic on his profile page. No mention of mailing me recently either....mmm, very odd. If he isn't playing games then someone else is on his computer or FR have a problem. Anyhoo he just said a tiny bit about himself & asked how I am, so I s'pose I have to be polite & answer now, lol.
Jude I'd love to know how my first love is too...his best friend (before he emigrated) is on Friends and, like you, I daren't ask but of course he might have no idea. If you do it I will too, lol. Lovely shoes, hope they fit.

C'mon Lottie, give us a twirl!
Evening folks, still got a throbbing head, which I am not used to, but after all the banging and chiseling that went on it it's not surprising, just been lolling about all day. What is best for headaches, Ibruprofen, paracetamol or aspirin?

Love those shoes jude, they are me me me!

I've met up with a couple of ex's, but i know I can trust myself and I've met one of the wives now, even been invited to stay at their house, but I try to keep a bit of distance. We usually meet up for drinks or coffee when I am back home, the other one (on the bike) I usually attend his rockabilly sessions with my sister and we have a laugh!
