I have a washer dryer that run off the cold feed, the washer hasnt heated the water for ages now so we have been washing everything cold. Also the dryer does not dry the clothes! I cannot afford to buy another or pay over over the odds to get it fixed as we have a baby on the way and all my money is going into buying what we need.
I was wondering if it would be possible to plumb the washer to the hot feed instead?? would that work?
Thanks for reading and hope you can help in some way!

well it wouldn't make the dryer work would it? sounds to me like you had better get it fixed tbh. You will need to do lots of washing and drying with a baby
You could connect the machine as hot fill only, but the temperature of the water in the machine at the start of the wash would be dependent on the temperature of your hot water supply. On a long wash cycle (between fills) the water would cool over time.
You would then not be able to run a cool wash for non-fast coloured items.

I suspect that the cold wash problem is either a control fault or a faulty heater within the machine. With the price of basic machines at not much more than £100, I would suspect the machine to be beyond economic repair – based on engineer call out and parts costs.
If you did that wouldn't it rinse the clothes in hot water too
You could search for a service engineer who does not charge a call out fee, to give you a quote for the repair – it could be something simple such as a blown fuse or a loose wire within the machine, with the repair costing less than £50.
I would ring round and see if i couldn't get someone to give me a free quote for repair. If it is going to be more than it's worth then try Gumtree, your local freead paper or a charity shop that does electricals and get a second hand one.
most hot feeds do not have sufficient pressure to be used and, if it was suitable, as has been stated earlier you would not be able to cold rinse.
