dring out my walls after a damp problem

hi, i live in an old(1857) 3 storey house. we only moved here 2 and a half years ago and always noted a slight discolouring on the chimney breast on both top floors. with the cold winter we had our old 60kw C/H boiler running 24/7 and the walls and ceiling became sodden. an engineer informed me there was not enough pull on my flue so all the condensation had remaind in the stack and therefore soaked into my walls. ive had a new 29kw boiler installed and flue'd straight out the wall. slowly the chimney breast and side walls are drying out but is there anything else i can do to speed up the drying time??? i have tried calor gas heaters but i think they are making more condensation. sorry it 's a long one. thanks. marc.

If the boiler is now been re-flued using balanced flue at 90 degrees, then longer term the old chimney could usefully be capped - otherwise some rain will continue to go down there. Not a must do - just a suggestion.
Free-standing Calor gas heaters produce loads of water vapour as part of the combustion process so are pretty useless in my opinion (the ones without a flue system).
You could raise the temperature using electric heaters at a cost - this might speed up the process. It will dry out eventually of its own accord when the temperature outside starts rising. What's the urgent need?

the chimney has indeed been capped with a huge paving slab which slightly overhangs it and is only slightly tilted away from the house.
the only hurry is my 3 year old son's room wall is a disgrace and he is sleeping in another bedroom(got 8 so no probs there,bedrooms that is not son's), the other wall with damage is the family computer room which is used almost constantly
its just impatience on my side.
how long am i luking at just leaving it to dry out naturally??
