I have a problem with my sink/shower drainage. Both are slow draining and shower will bubble when empting the sink. I have snaked both and can't find any blockage. I decided to check the manhole outside the bathroom and found that neither of the 2 seem to be draining in the sewer system. I am at a loss at to where the water is going, but it is going somewhere. Any ideas would be great

I had similar a couple of years ago, there was a blockage in the main pipe leading from the loo to the sewer - the bath and hand basin drained into that pipe. I got the drain people in (thankfully covered on my household insurance) and they jetblasted the stinky mess through - it's fine now.

thanks I was thinking that, it would be possible the plumber has diverted the waste water to the toilet pipe and not the proper drain. I cannot figure out why when the shower/sink drain, I cannot see water coming in to the manhole from the toilet drain either
Quite normal for a shower/basin waste to connect to a soil pipe (WC waste).

Tip a little of something colourful (eg emulsion) down the basin waste and see if it comes out in the manhole.
Try a proprietary drain/waste pipe chemical cleaner. The pipes might have a build-up of soap in them. I've seen it when I had a similar problem with a bathroom washbasin that was slow to empty. I removed the trap under the basin and looked into the waste pipe. It was completely bunged up with soft soap, that had not been washed away because of the slow water flow. The water still got through the blockage, because it had made a small-diameter hole all the way through it. Trying to push the soap along the pipe with something solid, such as a rod, didn't work because the soft soap simply moved aside, then re-formed when I took the rod out. A dose of chemical cleaner sorted it out, but now I dose the pipe regularly to keep it clear.
I've recently discovered a product called Buster. It's a sink/shower unblocker which you pour down and leave overnight. It's nowhere near as expensive as Mr Muscle and seems to do a good job.
Depends what's blocking it though - ours was just toilet paper, not sure how Mr Muscle and Co deal with things like that.
