My family and I were evicted from a privately rented property yesterday, as the landlord wants to sell. The council have given us emergency housing, of a 2 bed property when there is myself, my husband, and three children consisting of one girl in her 20s, and two teenage boys. The council say they are looking into the case to see if we made ourselves intentionally homeless, even though any arrears I had I cleared before leaving the property. How will the council find out that we didnt make ourselves intentionally homeless, and what can I do to prove that I didnt make ourselves intentionally homeless. I know if the council think we did, we will be made to leave the emergency housing and I dont know what I will do then. Please help. Just want some advice. I have been to shelter website but there is not a Shelter office anywhere near me.

The council are simply carrying out a standard check. The fact that they're doing so doesn't imply that there will be an adverse finding; you've probably got nothing to worry about.

What notice were you served? Were you served notice because the LL was selling or because you were in arrears and then the LL decided to sell?
