Stained urine toilet seat (sorry)!!

Im a little embarrassed asking this question but we have recently moved into a new property which was not left in the best state (cleanliness) as I would have left it. Anyway does anyone know what I can use to remove or get rid of the urine staining that is on the under rim of the toilet seat - its not as bad as some may think but I just dont want to see it at all - our new bathroom arrives in a few weeks but Ive tried bleach, mould and mildew spray, etc .... any advice!

Use new stanley blade and scrape . EWW ! sorry !! and I find Flash spray with bleach brilliant

CIF is not good or the Flash Spray .... think i need something like bicarb soda or something! Believe me it has not been a good experience cleaning that bathroom especially just as I was about to have my baby!!

What is the toilet seat made from? Wood?

Try a strong Limescale remover such as Harpic or similar and also use Bleach Tablets for the Cistern as well.
Give the area a good coating with Limescale remover and leave overnight if possible.

If it's proving difficult then I'd go along with the suggestion above. Of course if it is wood you could always sand it down.

Alternatively you could widdle over the rest of the seat until it matched :-)

No its not a wooden seat - normal white seat. The bathroom is getting re-done and new suite soon so cant be bothered with a new seat plus where do you shop!!!

Blooming 'eck NoM - was it gold-plated or one of those fancy self-closing lids?

My last one cost £25. You can get cheapo plastic ones from about a tenner.

I had this problem at a property I moved into. I shifted it with cillit bang and one of those green scourers.

If it is wood, then you won't remove the stains without sanding down and revarnishing. I would recommend using a very strong disinfectant such as Jeyes Fluid, and then just rubbing some neat Zoflora over the wood, just to make it smell more pleasant. But that is only if a new toilet seat is completely out of the question. You did say you are getting a whole new bathroom soon ??

Horrible job wouldn't venture to clean as mentioned buy a new one,B&Q and Lidls have toilet seats on offer ranging from £10 - 15 would do the job until you get your new bathroom

I'm beginning to think that the plastic of the seat is discoloured by staining in the same way as dye works on clothes. This is common, and is especially noticeable on white plastic. The stain won't just be on the surface, but will have penetrated the plastic, so no amount of surface cleaning will ever get rid of it. If this is the case, and the seat has been cleaned and disinfected, the discolouration may not look nice, but it's harmless.

Neat Cillit Bang...............leave on for a couple of minutes then rinse off.........it will clean absolutely everything (even though I hate the advert)

a basic (but acceptable) loo seat is £8.99. personally, I'd just get a new one.
